Manor House Hotel and Spa Review: A Durham Hidden Gem
Over the last few years the owners of The Manor House Hotel in West Auckland have embarked on a multi-million pound investment in this historic grade one listed property, which is reputed to have been King Henry VIII’s hunting lodge, and seat of the Eden Family. The hotel now offers a selection of premium bedrooms, all tastefully decorated with beautiful fabrics, original features, and modern bathrooms - as well as all of the essentials for a relaxing stay, including large flat screen TVs and free wifi.
As well as refurbishment of the hotel’s bedrooms, the restaurant, spa, Knights Hall, and Stables Barn have all had substantial investment and offer some of the best spaces in the region.
If you’re visiting Durham, especially the Durham Dales area, Barnard Castle, and the more rural side of the County, and you’re looking for a relaxing break in a traditional hotel, I’d thoroughly recommend The Manor House. If you’d like to make a booking, check out the hotel’s website, my Expedia Travel Shop, or contact me and I’ll be happy to help.
