I’m Chris Naylor. I’ve been working in hospitality and travel technology for nearly two decades - long enough to have started behind a hotel front desk and ended up building and managing the systems that sit behind how properties find their guests.

My work now focuses on consultancy for independent hotels and short-term rental operators: website management, direct booking systems, OTA strategy, and the practical decisions that sit between a property and its next booking.

Recent clients include The Honest Lawyer Hotel in Durham - the first hotel I ever worked in - and AMRP Holiday Lets, a collection of holiday lets in County Durham and North East England, who come to me for help with their OTA listings and connections to Smoobu, their PMS.

This blog is where I write about the things I see coming up repeatedly in that work. Not theory - just practical observations from two decades of doing this, for operators who’d rather spend less time on platforms and more time running their property.
